Chukar Partridge

HO-FO

All natural, anti-biotic free, and hormone free, these heirloom birds are raised in large arena style coops in Sullivan County  New York. Native to southern Eurasia, the Chukar partridge was first introduced to the United States in the 1800s. In the summer Chukars form pairs to breed in rugged, mountainous terrain. During winter they gather in small coveys of 10-50 birds and descend into the valleys and feed in the fields. These medium-sized birds fall somewhere between a pheasant and a quail in size. Their white meat is firm, but very tender and juicy with a distinct clean flavor of its own. Said to be the tastiest of all game birds. They are sold with head and feet on. Firm, tender, and juicy, a distinct clean flavor said to be the tastiest of all game birds.
