Cleason Horst Farm
Lyons New York
Cleason works closely with neighboring farmers supplementing his own production of feed, buying only locally-grown-and-produced natural corn and silage. He also buys locally-grown pasture-raised cattle from neighbors – Angus and Angus/Hereford crosses - to finish on his farm. The pride in care and attention to the well being of their livestock is evident when visiting the farm as the animals are clean, healthy and content.
The temperate climate with adequate seasonal precipitation and rich, fertile soils of the area are ideal for growing wine grapes as well as an abundance of native agricultural products and plentiful native grasses and clover ideal for raising livestock.
Cleason Horst and his family are Mennonite and are known for their strong commitment to community; interest in social issues; and voluntary service to those in need.

“As stewards of God's earth, we are called to care for the earth and to bring rest and renewal to the land and everything that lives on it."
